empathy, genuineness, and acceptance
Rogers believed that in order for a person to "grow" they need to be placed in an enviroment that makes them feel accepted, understood, and openness; without these things around people healthy relationships will not be able to develop. Rogers then took these 3 factors to the next level by saying one must have these things to be fully satisfied thus developing the idea of self-actualization. This is the idea that all humans have one goal, and that is to achieve ones full potential. For example, a flower will flourish in the right sunlight and enviroment, but once it is taken into a dark place without any sunlight it dies. Humans are similar in that with the right enviroment and relationships around them they will also flourish reaching their full potential.
