personality theory criticisms:
Psychoanalytic theory criticisms
There are quite a few problems with the psychoanalytic theory of personality. For one, the theory is poorly designed. No one quite knows what psychic energy is and if you don't know what it is, it cannot be measured. Secondly, the role of environment is overlooked and this leaves out a huge question and influence on psychology. Thirdly, there is no scientific proof behind this theory and therefore is not easily supported by scientists.
Humanistic theory criticisms
Many questions and concerns in his theory remain unanswered. The main point of this theory is that man is mostly good, but is man really good? The humanistic theory assumes that man always has good intentions, when in reality that is not always the case. Man in inherently evil, and man will always do evil things no matter how hard they try to be good.
Trait theory CRITICISMS
Many criticize the trait theory for not being able to explain the origins of personality. They are able to come up with all of these traits but where do these even come from in the first place? Others criticize the emphasis on character traits, claiming that often times these traits cannot explain some peoples behaviors, and these certain traits are not excuses for people to behave the way they do.
Social-cognitive theory criticisms
The social-cognitive theory is criticized for focusing to much on the environment and not enough on the person being assessed. Losing sight of the person makes it difficult to find accurate results.
